"Made by Indians" is a 672-page book which deals with contemporary art, literature, fashion and graphics. The book is a voyage from India. It presents the contemporary art scene as seen largely by Indians. It includes 38 artists who talk about their artistic concerns, and their relationship with India, and comment on their works.
The image from the book is from Pushpamala N an Indian artist who was born in Bangalore in 1956. "My work has been very consciously feminist from the beginning and I have been using woman's stories and women's material to look at contemporary society. I take stereotypical images and generic stories and twist them about. By performing in them, I enter the narrative physically, changing it with my physical presence, but also becoming culpable, and not just an ironic spectator."
