The Face of Innocence tells the story of Eve, a beautiful girl who chooses to lose herself, and those around her, in fantasy, rather than face up to reality.
Eve is the fiancée of Harry, the narrator’s oldest friend. When the three take a holiday on the French Riviera, Harry worries that Eve is losing her grip on reality, and the narrator begins to question whether there are darker secrets lurking in her past.
