The Happy Lagoons, originally published in Danish in 1957, is an account of life in the kingdom of Tonga in the South Pacific. 

Journalist Andersen-Rosendal sets out to examine whether it really is the tropical paradise of popular imagination. He explores the attitudes, religion, taboos and ancient superstitions of the people who inhabit the islands.

Sālote Tupou III, ‘Queen Salote’, was Queen of Tonga from 1918 to her death in 1965.
