Michael Barsley was a British author and editor known for his contributions to 20th-century humorous literature.

He edited several notable anthologies, including this,  The Phoenix Book of Wit and Humour, first published in 1949 by Phoenix House in London.

This collection features a diverse array of British wit and humour from the early to mid-20th century, encompassing poems, essays, stories, and illustrations. The anthology showcases works by prominent figures such as A.A. Milne and Evelyn Waugh, highlighting the rich tapestry of British comedic writing during that era.

The book is clean and in good condition ( see image) apart from a small tear on the top left-hand corner/top spine.

The book was printed by  Tonbridge Printers in 1949.  In the first half of the 20th century, Tonbridge earned its reputation as a printing town.
