Love, loss and love converge in the shadow.
This is an experimental photography–literature art book created by German-born photographer Bettina von Zwehl and British psychoanalyst and writer Josh Cohen. It was published by Art/Books to accompany von Zwehl’s exhibition at the Freud Museum in London.
In this collaboration between photographer Bettina von Zwehl and psychoanalyst and author Josh Cohen, black-and-white silhouettes of women in near darkness and 50 fragments of a single repeated photo of a young girl are juxtaposed with an essay on light and shadow and a fictional tale inspired by the torn photographs.
Rather than a conventional narrative book, it is designed as an interwoven dialogue between images and texts exploring themes like grief, memory, privacy, and the relationship between light and darkness
